Dalhousie – A delight for nature lovers

Named after famed British Governor General, Lord Dalhousie, this former hilly outpost of Britishers holds the lingering charm of the British Raj. The hilly town is known for its rich architecture and quaint churches. Spread over five hills, the town has lush vegetation, you can find swathes of pine, deodar, oaks and flowering rhododendrowns. The town offers a spectacular view of the Chamba valley and the mighty Dhauladhar range with its sun-kissed, snow covered peaks.

There are plenty of activities to keep you and your family engaged in Dalhousie. Some of the famous local attractions are Subash Baoli, a secluded place where freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is believed to have spent a large portion of 1937 here. Nature-lovers
can take a walk around the Bakrota Hills, that offer a magnificent view of the snow-clad peaks. While Kalatope, 10 kms from Dalhousie is a great picnic spot and also has a wild life sanctury.
